Ex-Deliveroo Leader’s TastyUrban Raises €6.5M to Unlock Restaurant Kitchen Potential

TastyUrban, a Berlin-based startup founded by former Deliveroo and Gorillas executives, has raised €6.5 million in Series A funding to transform underused restaurant kitchens into profitable digital-first brand hubs. The company’s innovative “asset-light” franchise model licenses delivery-optimized food brands to restaurants with idle kitchen capacity, enabling operators to generate additional revenue without extra investment.

CEO Felix Chrobog explained, “We’re helping restaurateurs maximize their kitchen efficiency and create new income streams, while small business owners gain access to popular brands with minimal upfront costs.” The funding round, led by IBB Ventures with participation from Earlybird-X and others, will accelerate TastyUrban’s technology development, brand portfolio expansion, and international growth.

Founded in 2022 by Chrobog alongside ex-Gorillas colleagues Marc Hansell and Gerry Pidgeon, TastyUrban tackles the challenges of kitchen underutilization, market saturation, and the rising demand for delivery-friendly, innovative food concepts. Its digital platform integrates procurement, supply chain, onboarding, and training tools to simplify brand operation for restaurant partners.

Currently active in 25 German cities with over 80 partner kitchens, TastyUrban offers brands like Birdie Birdie and Fly Dumplings via platforms such as UberEats and Lieferando. Chrobog says, “Our goal is to become Europe’s leading virtual multi-brand franchise, driving growth and digitalization in a fragmented industry.”

IBB Ventures’ Roman Pimonov praised the team’s vision to redefine restaurant economics through scalable innovation and consumer-focused brand development.
