Hauler Hero Aims to Modernize Waste Management with Smart Software Platform

Mark Hoadley, formerly a sales professional at ServiceTitan, teamed up with his brother-in-law Ben Sikma to launch Hauler Hero in 2020, targeting the outdated technology landscape of the waste management industry.

Recognizing that existing software in the sector was often clunky and antiquated, Hoadley and Sikma set out to build a comprehensive cloud-based platform from the start. Hauler Hero offers waste management companies tools ranging from route planning and billing to customer portals that allow pickup requests. The platform also leverages AI to automate processes like invoicing and optimize routes for cost savings.

Unlike many startups that begin with a minimal viable product, Hauler Hero prioritized developing multiple integrated product lines early on, aiming to avoid pitfalls Hoadley observed at ServiceTitan.

After launching in beta in 2022 and going public in early 2024, Hauler Hero now serves over 120 residential and commercial clients across 40 states, growing revenue by 200% over the past year.

The company recently secured $10 million in seed funding led by I2BF Ventures, with backing from K5 Global, Somersault Ventures, and executives from firms such as Gusto and ServiceTitan. Funds will support hiring engineers and sales staff and expanding product features, including enhanced integration for enterprise clients and two-way messaging capabilities.

In a market valued at over $140 billion in the U.S., Hauler Hero aims to disrupt legacy players and empower hardworking waste management companies with efficient, modern software.
