Walmart is making a significant push into the pre-owned luxury fashion market, reporting a 200% year-to-date growth in this segment on its Marketplace platform. The retail giant is expanding offerings from high-end watchmakers like Rolex to designer handbags from brands such as Louis Vuitton and Gucci.
The online shopping experience now includes listings like a $54,999 diamond-encrusted Rolex, reflecting Walmart’s surprising evolution as a destination for luxury shoppers. The company is actively partnering with specialty platforms such as Bag, Borrow or Steal for luxury handbags and BeckerTime for pre-owned watches to meet growing consumer demand.
Additionally, Walmart has broadened its luxury and athletic brand selections by teaming up with StockX, introducing thousands of SKUs—including children’s items—and launched a partnership with PrettyGarden, known for affordable women’s fashion.
These strategic moves come alongside Walmart’s investment in technology enhancements. Its AI-powered shopping assistant, Sparky, launched recently to provide personalized recommendations, review summaries, and streamlined shopping guidance, positioning Walmart to compete aggressively with Amazon’s similar AI-driven tools.
Walmart’s diversification into pre-owned luxury goods underscores its aim to capture new customer segments while upgrading its digital shopping platform to meet evolving consumer expectations.
