Stripe Launches Advanced AI Payment Model, Expands Nvidia Partnership

At its annual Stripe Sessions event, Stripe unveiled several key innovations, including an AI-driven payment foundation model, new stablecoin-powered accounts, and an enhanced partnership with Nvidia.

Emily Glassberg Sands, Stripe’s head of information, explained that the AI model leverages data from tens of billions of transactions to detect subtle payment patterns overlooked by previous systems. This advancement has notably boosted fraud detection, increasing the identification of card-testing attacks by 64% for major clients overnight. Card-testing attacks involve fraudsters verifying stolen credit card details for unauthorized purchases.

Will Gaybrick, Stripe’s president of product and business, noted that the model’s self-supervised learning approach allows it to discover features independently. He added, “Generalized models outperform because they adapt better to shifts in fraud behavior.”

Stripe also announced plans to introduce stablecoin-backed multicurrency cards in partnership with firms such as Ramp, Squads, and Airtm. This will allow businesses operating internationally to transact in a unified currency.

Highlighting its rapid growth, Nvidia migrated its entire subscriber base to Stripe Billing within six weeks — the fastest transition Stripe has recorded.

Other updates include support for 25 additional payment methods, expanded tax automation to over 100 countries, and AI-powered tools like Smart Disputes for automated dispute resolution.
